Kenya's ambassador to Nigeria Wilfred Machage on Friday, July 2, dismissed reports that indicated Nigeria Biafra leader Nnamdi Kanu had been arrested and extradited to Nigeria from Kenya.

In a statement, Machage highlighted that the allegations were fictional, imaginary and deliberately concocted to fuel antagonistic feelings among certain sections of Nigerian people.

In addition, Machage challenged anyone aware of the arrest in Kenya to present the facts including where, when, how and who was involved in the arrest.

Machage stated that Kenya and Nigeria continued to enjoy cordial diplomatic relations with both the Federal Government of Nigeria and its citizens.

"Kenya is committed to sustaining this historical bond of friendship between our two governments and the peoples of our two countries.

"We wish to further cement our diplomatic relations with a view to ensure mutually beneficial relations between the two countries," reads the statement in part.

In conclusion, the ambassador noted that the Kenyan government was not pleased with how President Uhuru Kenyatta's name had been dragged into the matter.

Nnamdi Kanu grabbed international news on Tuesday, June 29, after he was presented at a Nigerian Court - four years after he fled the country.

Authorities in the West African country initially claimed that Kanu was arrested and extradited from the United Kingdom where he also has citizenship status.

However, the UK government denied having anything to do with his arrest.

Kanu's family has threatened to sue Kenya for allegedly deporting Kanu.

"We will hold the Kenyan and Nigerian government responsible for whatever may happen to my brother. We don't know why they did this to him. It is an incident of extraordinary rendition," his brother Kingsley stated.
