Isaac Mwangi, a businessman from Nyeri was kidnapped after he and his family were intercepted by armed gangsters who then drove his wife and 10-year-old daughter to a different section of the highway.

The gang of 6 bundled Mwangi into their vehicle, a Subaru Forester before one of their rank proceeded to inquire whether or not his wife, Phoebe Muthoni, could drive the couple's car and upon her answering in the negative, one of the gangsters got into the couple's car and drove them to an area called Gwa Kung'u where they parked and then took Mwangi's, their daughter's and Phoebe's phones before speeding off.

She then borrowed a phone and called one of Mwangi's cousins who advised her to call the area chief who arrived on the scene and proceeded to drive the family to the Gwa Kung'u police where she was instructed to instead get the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) involved in the matter.

Upon reporting the matter to the DCI, they unsuccessfully attempted to trace the stolen phones. She was then instructed to go home and allow for the sleuths to carry out their investigations. She instead decided to pass by one of her husband's businesses, a bar in Naro Moru only to be informed that one of his employees, a guard called Wilson Mwangi had been abducted by three unknown men at 7:30 pm that same evening.

The following Monday morning came with some promising news as the lead investigator, based in Ndaragwa, informed her that her husband's phone had been switched on at 6:30 am and had been traced to Kamukunji, Nyeri Town.

She along with 6 others including Mwangi's cousins and friends travelled to Ndaragwa to enquire about the progress on the case and was advised to be patient as the sleuths were collecting and processing fingerprints from the couple's vehicle.

On their way back, Phoebe and her associates were waylaid at Solio Junction by men in a Probox who cocked their gun at the occupants of their car before forcing Mwangi's two cousins, Bernard Wanjohi and Samuel Ngachia into their Probox and speeding off.

It has been seven days since she has heard word about her husband, Isaac Mwangi and she is desperate for answers from the DCI investigators.
