Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja made an attempt at freestyle rap in Burma Market, Nairobi on Saturday, July 10.
In a video shared by the senator on his Facebook page, the senator is seen in the company of some of the traders in one of the mini-hotels in Burma.
He passed by the market after attending a church service at Mathare North SDA - Ruaraka in the company of the Amani National Congress(ANC) leader, Hon. Musalia Mudavadi.
As the video begins, Sakaja listens to a short rap by one of the youth who showers the senator with praise, referring to him as a leader with a clear conscience.
"He has fans including grandmothers. He is social and mingles with people despite his busy schedule," the young man rapped.
The attentive audience, including the visibly impressed senator broke into a round of applause after the man was done. Sakaja decided to have a go at it.
" Nipatieni beat basi, nipatieni beat, ntapatia freestyle. (Give me a beat guys. Give me a beat. I'll give a shot at a freestyle)," the senator summoned the youth.
The youth then began chanting "we are with Sakaja" rhythmically as he prepared himself for his rap freestyle. After calling them to cue, he began.
" Listen. You are with Sakaja... I am here with this lady from Burma," the senator began rapping.
The rap was brief as the crowd immediately began cheering, referring to the senator as a 'governor'. This is because they are hopeful that Sakaja will vie for Nairobi Governorship in 2022.
He then invited one of the traders to his office on Thursday, July 15.
This is not the first time the young senator has been seen having fun. Earlier this year, he recorded himself rapping along toTrio Mio's " cheza kama wewe " song while on vacation in Dubai.
