Michael Njogo Gitonga, President Uhuru Kenyatta's look-alike, detailed how his Nissan Note, that he had been gifted last year, led to his arrest on Wednesday, July 14, before he was set free the same day.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke Gitonga's manager Stephen Njenga affirmed that his client had initially filed a report at a police station after his car had been stolen in January 2021.

He confirmed that Gitonga alias Uhunye soon found the car weeks later.

"The police however had not canceled the report and were still in pursuit of the perpetrator who had stolen the car," Njenga stated.

Njenga pointed out that the police officers who took up the investigations found Gitonga with the Nissan Note this past week and claimed he was the suspect which led to his arrest.

"Fortunately, the officer who was following up on the case in January 2021 recognised him and affirmed that Uhunye had initially filed the report," the manager detailed.

Gitonga had been gifted the car in September 2020, by a car sales company as part of their marketing strategy after his striking resemblance to the President went viral.

The resemblance led to various memes and videos being circulated online with Kenyans hinting that he might be related to the Head of State -claims that were disputed by Gitonga.

He, however, pointed out that he also had to share the burden of being linked to the President.

"Sometimes, I meet people who tell me that they have not had anything to eat and being 'Uhunye', I have to give them some money.

"In fact, that name has really made me suffer," he stated in a past interview.
