Questions regarding controversial businessman Joseph Waswa's source of wealth have circulated online after he posted a video of himself flaunting wads of cash at his house.

Further, the businessman also released a video on Thursday, July 22, disputing claims that he had been arrested.

Reports had alleged that Waswa had been arrested on Wednesday, July 21 for fraudulently obtaining Ksh2.2 million from a business lady.

According to the video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, Waswa refuted the claims affirming that Ksh2 million is petty cash.

"Please ignore the rumours circulating of my arrest. Those are nonsense. People should know that I am above Ksh2 million. Ksh2 million is my petty cash.

"Just ignore those are propaganda," he further reiterated.

Questions have been raised over Waswa's dealings as well as the source of the vast sums of money he flaunts.

The city businessman came under scrutiny in 2016, after he offered a free ticket to Saleh Wanjala, nicknamed as Bungoma's James Bond for hanging on a helicopter that had carried the body of Jacob Juma.

Further, past reports indicated that the businessman had thrown a lavish wedding worth an estimated Ksh5 million in which he and his betrothed Moreen Tabitha exchanged vows in December 2017. The ceremony's guests included key political figures who arrived in choppers.

Among the politicians who attended his wedding included Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, his Mwingi West counterpart Charles Nguna, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, and Alfred Keter of Nandi Hills.

Waswa is also known for driving high-end vehicles, wearing designer clothing as well as ostentatious arrivals at events.
