Gachagua was arrested at his Nyeri home in an early morning raid by officers drawn from the office of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) over money laundering claims.

He is currently held at Muthaiga Police Station.

According to his lawyer Wahome Gikonyo, they did not receive information about the Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji approving the charges and arrest of Gachagua.

DPP Did Not Order The Arrest of Judge Chitembwe & Muchelule

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution denied allegations that it permitted the arrest of two High Court Judges; Said Juma Chitembwe and Aggrey Muchelule which happened on Thursday, July 22, 2021.

In a press statement, the Noordin Haji-led office denied ordering the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to arrest the two High Court Judges.

Haji dismissed previous reports of the Law Society of Kenya Nairobi branch chairman, Eric Theuri who had insinuated that the DPP had orchestrated the arrest of two judges.

Mr Haji however stated that if the files are presented to him he will then give away forward regarding the case.

Moi Confidants Plan to Convert InterCon Hotel Into Stalls

A new plan to convert InterContinental Hotel into a mixed-use building is now in high gear since the facility shut down in August 2020.

A report by Business Daily on Friday, July 23, indicated that the owners of the hotel, who include former President Daniel Moi's confidants are looking for a consultant to advise on change of business model.

The report further indicated that part of the revamp will include introducing shops and stalls as well as restaurants and office spaces.

In a statement, Kenya Hotel Properties announced that it was looking for a consultant to offer options the building could pursue in the future.

Kiambaa By-election Was Free And Fair - IEBC

IEBC has refuted Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi's claims that the recently held by-elections were rigged.

In a press statement released on the evening of Thursday, July 22, IEBC said that the by-elections held on July 15, were successfully done contrary to Wamatangi’s claims.

Wamatangi made the claims during an interview with Citizen TV on Thursday morning of July 22.

Wamatangi wanted the IEBC to come out and clear the air on how it had conducted the elections, and to state its stand on the tallying of votes.

Supreme Court Dismisses Case Against Waiguru

The Supreme Court dismissed the election petition filed by Martha Karua to challenge the election of Governor Anne Waiguru.

The five-judge bench led by Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu dismissed all the litigations of the National Rainbow Collision (NARC) Party Leader against the Kirinyaga Governor.

The court determined that all election matters within Kenyan courts were concluded in the Supreme Court judgement on August 6, 2019.

Waiguru had moved to the Supreme Court to challenge the Court of Appeal's decision to move Karua's election petition to the High Court for hearing even after it had been dismissed.
