A primary school girl died in a road accident in Nakuru in the morning hours of Thursday, July 29.
According to witness reports, the lorry ferrying timber rammed into the back of the taxi near Eveready roundabout.
The lorry had reportedly experienced break failure when it crashed into the taxi.
The taxi was ferrying three children, two girls and a boy, to school on Thursday morning. Two of the children were seated at the back while one was seated in front with the driver.
Other occupants of the vehicle sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospital to receive treatment.
After hitting the taxi, the lorry crashed to the side of the road. The driver of the lorry also sustained injuries.
Residents of Nakuru Town have blamed the steep nature of the road leading to the roundabout stating that most trucks experience break failures at that section of the road.
"The slope towards that roundabout is no joke, especially for those driving lorries with a heavy load [SIC]," Antony Sanya stated.
They have also called for the erection of bumps on that stretch of the road.
In 2018, four people died while eighteen others sustained injuries in a road accident at the same roundabout. Two prison warders died on the spot while two others died while undergoing treatment at Nakuru Level Five Hospital.
