"I left for work that morning and left her in the company of her friends. Shirleen told her friends that she was going to mend her shoes, that is when she disappeared," Ochwadi narrates.

The distressed mother revealed that she has endured long, sleepless nights as she remains unaware of her daughter's whereabouts or what could have happened to her.

She reported the case to Mumias Police Station on July 17. She also filed a parallel report at Mayoni Police Station, but none of the stations has been able to trace her missing daughter.

Ochwadi states that there was no probable cause for her daughter to run away from home. She described Shirleen as a jovial girl who loved to sing and draw.

The distraught mother pleaded with whoever took her to return her home.

"I waited, and waited, and I am still waiting for Shirleen to come back," the distraught mother pleaded.

Shirleen was a Grade Four student at Shibale primary school.

On July 5, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i announced that police have formed special squad to investigate and solve cases of abduction in the country.

He added that the squad would be equipped with special resources to act and solve the problem.
