Outspoken lawyer, Miguna Miguna, has come to the rescue of a stranded university student who studied under Teacher Peter Tabichi, the winner of the 2019 Global Teacher Prize.

Miguna Miguna on August 19, announced on his Twitter page, that he would offer to find help for the stranded university student, Esther Amimo, who bagged a prestigious award for her scientific work in 2019.

Amimo was a protege of the global superstar teacher, Peter Tabichi, who gave 80 percent of his pay to help poor students in order to facilitate their studies.

The former protege studied under the tutorship of Tabichi who taught at Keriko Secondary School, and she came to the limelight because of her science project at the school.

She featured in a video that Tabichi had made, telling his philanthropic tale in what turned to be a winning project of the Global Teacher Prize from the Varkey Foundation.

In the inspirational project video by Tabichi, he is seen visiting Esther's home in a semi-arid area, where he helps a family install a polypropylene bag used to help in the growing of vegetables.

Amimo would now be studying in the United States after winning a global science award in 2019 and having been promised a full university scholarship in the country.

Esther also won the United Nations Sustainable Development Global Awards during the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2019, in the US.

She was, however, unable to access the scholarship she had been promised, as she had no direct contact with those who promised to award her the scholarship.

Amimo got significant recognition and praise, following her achievement at the time, but despite her exploits, she is now forced to struggle to pay her school fees at the University of Nairobi where she is set to join her third year.

She pays her fees by doing menial jobs in Nakuru County and has to live on a single meal a day while at the university, in order to save and pay university fees. Amimo also does laundry and works as a house help while in her free time in order to clear her tuition fee arrears.

Her pleas for help from the government went unheard, and her hope only renewed after Miguna Miguna offered to step in and help.
