The digital platforms have redefined content consumption in Kenya. As digital media takes root in Kenya, many viewers have been flocking YouTube for entertainment and education programs.

With this, some of the channels have gained popularity due to their creative content, resulting in a win for both the viewers and the creators, who now take home millions of shillings.

Kenyans.co.ke compiled the following list based on the number of views each of the channels have;

Citizen TV 

Citizen TV, a company under the Royal Media Services (RMS), is one of the most-watched channels in the country both on TV and YouTube.

Having joined on August 7, 2008, the channel has 917.13 million views and 2.85 million subscribers.

The channel details the newest technologies, inventions, innovations and creations and has the highest numbers of subscribers in Kenya.

It currently has 876.4 million views and 2.42 million subscribers.    

              

KTN News

It is a 24-hour news channel that airs content, ranging from news, sports, documentaries and investigative features.

Currently, the channel has been viewed by  840.4 million people and has a total of 2.02 million subscribers.

NTV  Kenya     

The news and entertainment channel has currently been watched by 565.3 million individuals and subscribed by 1.59 million.

Some of the popular shows on the channel include; Churchill Show, The Trend, Bull's Eye, AM Live, Crossover 101, Press Pass, Health Diary, Unscripted With Grace and The Wicked Edition.

                      

Churchill Show      

The channel was pioneered by one of Kenya's leading entertainers, Daniel Ndambuki, also known as Churchill.

The entertainer interviews a number of people including politicians, musicians, influential businessmen and women and so on.

Currently, the channel has 1.77 million subscribers and has been viewed by 554.6 million individuals.

The channel focuses on creating epic animated battles with characters such as Batman, Spider-Man, Superman, Hulk, Deadpool or any Marvel and DC superheroes.

The channel, which was created in September 2015, has 928,000 subscribers and 383.7 million views.

         

Nation   

The channel focuses on informing, educating and engaging its audiences through its news pieces.

Currently, the channel has 651,000 subscribers and 269.5 million views.

Otile Brown

The channel belongs to R and B singer Jacob Obunga alias Otile Brown. It is famed for its songs Dusuma, Such Kinda Love, Baby Love and many others.

Currently, the channel has been viewed by 218.9 million individuals and has 849,0000 subscribers.

It is a vernacular channel that produces content around latest news, Kikuyu movies and Kikuyu entertainment videos.

Having joined on October 8, 2015, the channel has 376,000 subscribers and has been viewed by 119.4 million times.

In this channel, Kenyans get to watch thousands of African movies for free, hence, its popularity.

Henry Desagu  

Desagu is a Kenyan comedian who posts video skits on a weekly basis.

His channel currently has 89.9 million views and 600,000 subscribers.              

 

Njugush 

Njugush is a Kenyan comedian who posts short skits on his channel together with his wife Celestine and son Tugi.

The channel has been viewed by 83 million views and has 520,000 subscribers.
