The security of Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang'i, was on Wednesday, September 8, breached while attending a function in Kisii.
In photos seen by Kenyans.co.ke, a woman snaked through the security and made her way towards a helicopter that had ferried Matiang'i to the area.
According to reports, the woman tried to seek an audience with the CS, who was about to disembark the helicopter.
This prompted quick reaction from security officers who considered this a breach of security and would take no chances.
Kisii County Commander, Francis Kooli, with the assistance of his junior officers, moved in to block the woman from getting to the helicopter. The woman, however, resisted against the four officers, insisting that she wanted to speak to the CS.
She was, however, outnumbered by the officers who frog-matched her to a nearby police vehicle. The CS proceeded shortly after the drama calmed.
Matiang'i was in Kisii to lay a foundation stone at Ibacho Level Four Hospital. He then headed to Nyamira County where he launched the Igena Itambe Hospital.
The CS witnessed the kick off of a national government project to refurbish and equip maternal and newborn units countrywide in a bid to eliminate preventable maternal related complications.
Recent incidents of breach in security of the country's VVIP have become a point of concern.
On May 26, the President’s motorcade was forced to stop after a Nairobi resident stood in the middle of the road, blocking the vehicle carrying President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The first call to action by the President's security team was to shut the window of the co-driver's seat where Uhuru was seated.
Officers then apprehended the man but let him go shortly after, at the President's call.
Uhuru's security team had been breached in an earlier incident during the official launch of Lamu Port.
