Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Friday, September 10, flushed out the key suspect in the death of Mombasa tycoon Sidik Anverali Mohammed and two other people in Kilifi County.

In a statement, the sleuths said the suspect was arrested from his hideout in Ambuja Court, in Tassia’s Fedha Estate, Nairobi.

The sleuths believe that the male suspect mobilized a mob to attack Sidik Anverali Mohammed, his driver and a land agent identified as James Kazungu Kafani.

DCI stated that the suspect had evaded arrest by police but on Monday the Special Service Unit (SSU) pounced on him in Nairobi.

"In a sting operation mounted by Special Service Unit (SSU) detectives, Mganga was finally cornered yesterday at around 10:30 am,"  the DCI's statement read in part.

"He had previously escaped a police dragnet prompting the DCI to unleash the elite Special Service Unit for his manhunt," it continued.

The three were on a land buying mission in the area and had toured a piece of land that Sidik intended to buy before they were attacked by a machete-wielding mob that butchered them to death.

DCI reported that Kazungu had pleaded with the attackers in their local Giriama dialect, begging them to spare their lives, but the assailants who were determined to eliminate them did not spare their lives.

"The lifeless bodies of the three that had deep cuts on their heads appeared to have been dragged on the ground for a distance before they were left sprawled by the roadside near Junju secondary school," DCI's statement said.

Sidik Sumra was once been feted by President Uhuru Kenyatta. Sumra had a successful dairy farm known as Sumra Dairy Farm, which is located in Kikambala-Amkeni in Kilifi.

His rise to fame came in August 2016 when his animals emerged winners in various categories during the Mombasa Agricultural show.

It was due to this outstanding experience that President Uhuru Kenyatta awarded Sumra during the official opening of the show.
