  • President Uhuru Kenyatta announced a partial cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday, September 29. 

    Through a statement read to the newsrooms by State House spokesperson Kanze Dena, CS Monica Juma has been moved from the Ministry of Defence to the Ministry of Energy. 

    Juma will replace CS Charles Keter who was moved from the energy ministry to the Ministry of Devolution.

    Eugene Wamalwa, who has hitherto served as Devolution CS, will move to the Ministry of Defence. 

    Margaret Kobia's Ministry of Public Service and Gender has been reconstituted and will be known as the Ministry of Public Service, Gender, Senior Citizens Affairs, and Special programmes.

    The mini Cabinet reshuffle also affected a number of Permanent Secretaries (PS). 

    PSs moved include Gordon Kihalangwa and Joseph K. Njoroge who have been transferred to  State Department for Energy from State Department for Public Works.

    Solomon Kitungu has been moved to the State Department for Transport while Nelson Marwa Sospeter has been moved to the State Department for Public Works

    In the new changes, the Ministry of Labour and  Social Protection has been reconstituted and renamed the Ministry of Labour.

    The Ministry of Devolution and ASAL that was under Wamalwa has also been reconstituted and renamed as the Ministry of Devolution.

    The Department of Special Programmes has also been transferred to the State Department for Social Protection, Pensions, and Senior Citizens Affairs. With the new changes, it has been renamed as State Department for Social Protection, Senior Citizens Affairs, and Special Programmes and will be under CS Kobia.

    The new changes are set to be effected immediately.
