President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday, September 29, officially opened the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) Kibra Level 3 Hospital in Kibera, Nairobi County.
The President was accompanied by his handshake partner Raila Odinga and Nairobi Metropolitan Service (NMS) Director-General Mohamed Badi.
The hospital is part of 24 hospitals built by the NMS.
All 24 new hospitals established by NMS in Nairobi will offer 24-hour services to improve access to health services for residents of the city.
The project is part of the government's initiative to strengthen the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda.
In February, NMS had promised that President Uhuru would be commissioning two hospitals every weekend.
NMS Boss Mohamed Badi earlier explained that all 84 wards in Nairobi would have at least a hospital that would bring health services closer to them.
Recently after the famous handshake, both the president and the former prime minister have toured together to inspect various government projects.
Previously President Kenyatta on July 7, commissioned five new hospitals in Nairobi County.
Earlier in the year, the President together with Raila flew together on an inspection tour of Kisumu.
Uhuru also had previously been accompanied by the ODM leader where they inspected the matatu terminus, built by the Nairobi Metropolitan Services.
The former prime minister in his previous tours highlighted his pleasure to accompany the President to witness the opening of the various projects, saying the development of the country’s infrastructure has always been a venture that is close to his heart.
