Two years since Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru walked down the aisle in a traditional wedding ceremony with city lawyer, Kamotho Waiganjo, she has for the first time opened up about her life in marriage.
Since her wedding, that was graced by top politicians, businessmen and other leaders, she has never detailed on the progress of her union.
Speaking during an interview on Monday, September 4, Waiguru stated her marriage to Waiganjo was still a bed of roses.
She narrated that the marriage to the lawyer has been characterised by happiness and transformation in so many positive ways.
"From the look on my face you can tell. From the day I got married, I have added a little bit. My face tells it all, marriage is good," Waiguru narrated.
At the same time, the first time governor noted that her husband has not been accompanying her to all political functions as he has his designated duties as the first gentleman.
She stated that lawyer Waiganjo has been running several projects assigned to his docket including overseeing different health projects in the county and converging with other leaders to chat the way forward for the betterment of the country.
She added that Waiganjo is not so much into politics and that is why they have not been seen together in political functions.
During the same interview, Waiguru made it clear that she more than fit to be the next Deputy President of Kenya. She however insisted that her time to take up that position is not yet ripe that is why she is focused on reclaiming her gubernatorial seat.
"I'm more than capable not only of being the Deputy President but also to be the President of Kenya. I have the skills, I am well educated and even enough experience. It is only that it is not yet time," Waiguru noted.
On her relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta, Waiguru cleared the air on the speculated fallout. She said that their relationship has been beneficial to the people of Kirinyaga as the national government has allocated a number of projects to her county.
"My relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta is good. It is like that of a boss and her colleagues. he has helped me reach where I am right now. His government has collaborated with Kirinyaga county government. They have really supported me a lot. They have given me so many projects," Waiguru stated.
On her gubernatorial bid, Waiguru maintained that she is unstoppable. She stated that she would reclaim the seat even if she decides to vie as an independent candidate.
