Nairobi County Announces Job Vacancies for Teachers: How to Apply

The County government of Nairobi has announced 219 job opportunities for qualified teachers.

According to a notice posted through the Nairobi City County public service board recruitment portal, all interested candidates are required to submit their applications by Friday, October 22.

Teachers who will be employed will earn an average monthly salary of Ksh25,470 to Ksh33,950, a house allowance of Ksh6,750, and a commuter allowance of Ksh4,000.

Job Qualifications

i) Qualified candidates must possess a diploma in Early Childhood Development Education offered either by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), Ministry of Education, or its approved equivalent.

ii) A candidate must possess a certificate in computer proficiency.

iii) The applicant must be registered by the Teachers Service Commission.

iv) The candidate must possess a certificate of Good Conduct and clearance certificates from Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).

v) The applicant must possess various skills within the job environment such as interpersonal skills, communication skills, leadership skills, organisational skills, ability to work under pressure, negotiation skills, ability to build and lead cohesive teams, and problem-solving skills.

vi) The candidate must meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on leadership and integrity. The chapter elaborates the conduct of state officers, ethics, values and responsibilities of leadership.

Job Description

The duties include preparation of schemes work and lesson notes/plan, maintenance of pupils' personal records, attending parents' meetings, coordinating and supervising co-curricular activities in the sub-county.

Others include coordinating the collection of statistical data and returns for all schools, production of monthly and quarterly feeding programmes and reports, and advising parents/guardians on the child's developmental progress.

How to Apply

i) Register at the Nairobi City County public service board recruitment portal by providing your email address and password.

ii) Once you've logged in to the portal, you will be required to provide information on four tabs; personal information, academic details, employment details, Cover letter and testimonials (upload your cover letter and add testimonials).

iii) Once you have filled all the tabs, click the submit button. 

The NCC public service board recruitment portal allows a candidate to track their job applications to monitor progress.
