A family is in distress after their 21-year-old son went missing on October 4, 2021, under unclear circumstances from Multimedia University main campus.
The family of Brian Wanjala Wabwire appealed for help in finding their son, who is a second-year student at MMU. Reports by his colleagues indicated that he was in the company of a female friend when he went missing.
A local publication revealed that Wabwire appeared disturbed on that fateful day. Some of his confidants disclosed that Wabwire had been threatened by someone he allegedly owed Ksh8,000.
According to his friends, the second year, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Communication, left the school heading to the hostels, located at Maasai Lodge area, when he disappeared.
They added that Wabwire had left his mobile phone charging in the hostel and because he did not return to the hostel they could not trace him.
A day after his disappearance, his college friends filed a missing person’s report at the Ongata Rongai Police Station under the OB Number 87/5/10/2021 and informed his family.
His elder brother, Meshack Wafula Wabwire, travelled to Nairobi to help in the search of his sibling and told journalists that he had visited hospitals and mortuaries in an effort to find his brother.
“I have visited several hospitals, morgues and police stations in search of my brother, but the efforts have been futile,” Meshack stated.
His mother appealed to the police to hasten investigations into her son's disappearance adding that the family had sacrificed a lot to put him through school.
“I last spoke with him on October 4, in morning hours before he was reported missing. On that day, he asked to speak with his younger brother, who is set to join Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology," Eunice Wabwire stated.
"He (Brian) advised the younger sibling to take his studies seriously and keep good company once he joins college. I sold a parcel of land and other personal property to ensure he got a good education," she added.
