Nyeri Town Member of Parliament, Ngunjiri Wambugu, mocked Deputy President William Ruto's camp for bragging about the number of campaigns they had held in a period of one month.

In just a month, the DP has visited 20 counties to rally Kenyans to support his bottom-up approach and elect leaders from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Issuing a statement on the matter, Wambugu accused the DP of using public funds to sponsor his campaigns.

He added that the DP had neglected his mandate as the Deputy President and added that development programs currently being done by the government, were independent of Ruto's input.

"I see TangaTanga are very proud of the fact that Ruto has done 187+ political rallies in 30 days. And it's quite a remarkable achievement.

"What they don't realize is that they have just confirmed that we - as Kenyans - pay Ruto a government salary as a Deputy President. However, what he does everyday is work as a Presidential Aspirant," Wambugu stated.

The lawmaker's remark comes days after the DP threatened to leave the ruling party, Jubilee, stating that UDA was his new political home.

His sentiments came just a day after Jubilee stated it would hold its National Delegates Convention (NDC) at the end of the month to punish rebels.

"I want us to unite and form the next government. We have joined hands with your leaders, some of whom were in other parties.

"We will all be under UDA," the DP noted.

He added that the ruling party had been rocked by divisions which could not be salvaged.
