Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a woman who allegedly drugged a man before stealing at least Ksh1 million from him.

The suspect, a 30-year-old woman, was captured at Kasarani, Nairobi by serious crimes detectives and cybercrime detectives who were trailing her.

“A woman who stole over Ksh1 million from a reveller who had invited her for a drink at a local joint in Embakasi, was last evening arrested by serious crimes detectives and placed behind bars,” stated the DCI.

According to the DCI, the victim, who was in the company of a male friend, was having fun at a local nightclub in Embakasi, before two women came in and sat next to the duo’s table.

Thereafter, the victim invited the women to their table for a drink. The women, who police describe as light-skinned, were seemingly uninterested at first but later gave in to the request upon insistence by the victim.

The four proceeded to a nearby hotel room after drinking for the better part of the night, where the victim’s colleague left for home, leaving his friend with the two women.

Upon investigations, the anti-crime agency noted that the women administered a stupefying drug to the man before stealing his mobile phone, identity card and ATM cards.

It is alleged that the women later withdrew more than Ksh1 million from the victim’s account, something he realized after leaving the hospital the following day where he had been admitted following the overdose of the drug.

The suspect will be arraigned Tuesday, November 9, to answer to charges of theft, with the detectives continuing with a manhunt for the suspect’s accomplice.

Incidences of women drugging men within Nairobi and stealing from them have become rampant, with police cautioning city residents against falling victims of thieves who pose as friends.

Last month, another woman was arraigned before Kibera Senior Principal Magistrate, Charles Mwaniki, for allegedly drugging a Ugandan businessman before stealing Ksh130,000 from him.

The Ugandan had just landed in the country, when he met a woman at a local joint, with whom they proceeded to his apartment in Kilimani.
