Exiled lawyer, Miguna Miguna has hit out at KTN Senior political reporter Chris Thairu for a special report on the lawyer that aired on Tuesday night, November 16, on prime time bulletin.

The report by Thairu had highlighted Miguna's travel drama that has seen him blocked from returning back home after four years. In his recent Berlin freeze, Thairu reported that Miguna would be required to book a flight from Germany back to Canada.

"...Miguna who was in Germany preparing to board a flight back to Kenya will now have to go back to Canada where he has been residing since he was blocked from stepping on Kenyan soil," the journalist reported.

This did not sit well with Miguna who, during his interview segment with KTN News anchor Fred Indimuli, called out Thairu for the claims.

"I heard Thairu announce that I'm heading back to Canada. I guess he must know something I don't know. I'm still here in Berlin determined to come back home," he stated.

The lawyer also decried his state, faulting the government of Kenya for failing to lift the red alerts that have barred him from entering the country.

"You don't ask for permission to go home. I have property in Kenya, I have a family, I have relatives who have passed away, a law firm; and I have not been home for four years. Can you imagine what that is?" Miguna posed.

He noted that the botched return was as a result of the government's interference in his travel plans.

"The customer service people had already been notified by the government agencies because they told me quite clearly that they had my picture, they had received the red alert that morning and that they were waiting for me,"

"They affirmed that they had no problem taking me to France but from there they would not allow me to board to Nairobi," he stated.

Miguna's legal team comprising of Law Society of Kenya President, Nelson Havi, recently affirmed that they had gone to court to seek orders and clarification on the status of Miguna's return.

"We have gone back to court and sought a raft of orders, which if granted should enable Air France and the government to comply and allow Miguna back,” Havi stated.

His sentiments were backed by former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga who accused the Attorney General of setting a bad precedence and misinformed the courts on the status of the alerts against Miguna.

“The Attorney General misinformed and misdirected the courts of law. That level of impunity from a government officer should worry every Kenyan,” Mutunga stated.

"Every person has an obligation to respect, uphold and defend the Constitution. We will not relent in our defence or the upholding of the rights of all Kenyans," he added.

Miguna had booked a flight to Nairobi on October 29, but later revealed that  Air France had declined to fly him to Kenya on account of orders made by the Kenyan government through red alerts.
