The Jamhuri Day celebrations are marked with pomp and colour and as tradition stipulates, and guests are usually dressed in elegant outfits to mark the auspicious occasion.

Here are the most stylish guests who made an appearance in the celebrations:

President Uhuru Kenyatta led the pack, stealing the show in his red tunic which is the Commander-in-Chief's ceremonial military uniform, in accordance to the event, which was the Trooping of Colours to the military.

The ceremonial military attire was first worn by his father, founding President Jomo Kenyatta and then followed by his successor former President Daniel Arap Moi.

Members of the executive such as Deputy President William Ruto, Tourism and Heritage Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala and Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe were also apparelled in sharp suits for the event.

They donned orange sashes in accordance to the protocol of the event, distinguishing themselves from members of the public and dignitaries who wore sashes of the Kenyan flag colours.

Other guests who were rocked dapper outfits are First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and  Second Lady Rachel Ruto whose outfits oozed class and elegance, channelling women empowerment.

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja, Sports CS Amina Mohamed, and Nyeri County Deputy Governor Caroline Karugu, Gender Chief Administrative Secretary(CAS) Rachel Shebesh were also in attendance whose outfits left many in awe. 

Mama Ngina Kenyatta also made a statement with her outfit, which she embodied with grace, as she was accompanied by former minister Beth Mugo.

The event was held at the newly rehabilitated Uhuru Gardens which had been closed for a year and a half for a facelift, to host the trooping of the colours to the military.

The celebrations saw the attendance of only 11,000 invited guests among them dignitaries, government officials and wananchi in line with Covid-19 containment protocols.

The Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Health worked together to ensure that the Covid-19 protocols are observed and vaccination booths provided, as was witnessed at the event.
