Confusion has hit the One Kenya Alliance (OKA), after FORD Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula skipped a highly publicized event headlined by his Amani National Congress (ANC) counterpart Musalia Mudavadi.

Taking to his social media page on Friday, December 31, the Bungoma Senator detailed his itinerary, conveniently leaving out the Cleophas Malala Super Cup finals event at the Mumias Sports Complex.

Also missing out on his to-do list was the Bukhungu II Declaration in Kakamega town whereby the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga is the chief guest.

"Today I'm meeting Ford Kenya Officials and party candidates in Trans Nzoia to plan for 2022. Thereafter I will attend end year boat racing at number beach in Bwiri ward Busia," read Wetangula's tweet.

The news elicited debate among Kenyans as a section criticised Wetangula for the move of opting out of the events despite being a key figure in the Mulembe Nation's political matrix.

"You can't even pull a Crowd of 100pax. Save us the Energy. Go-run your errands!" Vincent Kwendo noted.

"I thought Senator Malala had invited you for another rally," Kelvo Mabo intimated.

"Boat racing ni nini enda Mumias wacha kufunga mwaka na jokes," Kip Kuria stated.

"You are setting s bad precedent even for your brother Timothy Wanyonyi Wetangula who intends to vie for Nairobi's gubernatorial seat," Ogina JC commented.

OKA chiefs, including including KANU chairman and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Wetangula and Mudavadi had been invited to the Bukhungu II Declaration hosted by the Secretary General of the Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Francis Atwoli.

Reports however, revealed that ANC boss Musalia Mudavadi and Wetangula would grace the Cleophas Malala Super cup finals in Mumias. Posters surfaced, showing the two party leaders were invited as the Chief guest and guest of honour respectively.

Deputy President William Ruto has pitched his camp  in Bungoma County, where he is expected to hold a series of rallies. The leaders are expected to make stopovers before addressing their supporters at the respective events.

The parallel events will set the stage for a fierce scramble for the vote-rich region ahead of the 2022 polls. The Bukhungu II Declaration will culminate into the region's endorsement of Odinga as their preferred candidate in next year's presidential race.
