Kakamega Senator, Cleophas Malala, on Sunday, December 26, gave a condition for the Orange  Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader, Raila Odinga, to hold a meeting in the county.

Malala vowed to block the former Prime Minister from holding a political rally at the Bukhungu Stadium on December 31.

According to the Senator, Raila must get express permission from the Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader, Musalia Mudavadi, to access the stadium.

"I want to tell those people that if they will not get permission from Musalia Mudavadi, they should not go there on December 31," he stated.

Referring to Kakamega as his 'bedroom', Malala noted that he holds the key to the stadium. He revealed  that Mudavadi had intimated to him that he would not be attending the meeting.

The Senator expressed displeasure with Raila's faction, claiming that it had planned to use the meeting to bring members of the Luhya community to endorse the  African Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development for presidency in Mudavadi's backyard.

He told them that if they wanted to  endorse Raila, then they should do it elsewhere.

"If you want to endorse Raila, why don't you go and do it in Kondele, Siaya or Yala? Kakamega is a no-go-zone," Malala reiterated.

Malala's remarks highlighted the strained relationship between the former Nasa principals. Mudavadi staged a no-show during the launch of the Azimio La Umoja National Convention by the handshake partner at the Kasarani Stadium on December 10.

The ANC party leader has so far maintained his run for presidency, refusing to yield to pressure to fold his party and form an alliance with Raila.

In earlier statements made by Malala, he claimed that the former Premier had been making late night calls to Mudavadi asking him to sacrifice his presidential bid for the for him.
