Fresh details have emerged over a meeting held between One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals on Tuesday, January 4 regarding the status of their coalition.
The meeting that was held at Kalonzo Musyoka Command Center, arrived at major resolutions that are set to be officially made public on Wednesday, January 5.
Details emanating from the meeting indicated that the OKA principals resolved to keep the outfit intact ahead of the August 2022 presidential election.
Also among the resolutions reportedly made during the night meeting, include forging ahead with the plan of fronting a presidential candidate amongst themselves.
OKA which brings together four principals, Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Kanu leader Gideon Moi and Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula, insisted that they will not bow to pressure to disintegrate ahead of the polls.
The four OKA chiefs also laid out a timeline for naming a presidential candidate who will carry the interests of the coalition going forward.
They reiterated earlier sentiments made by Kalonzo that OKA is strong and will not stop their bid to take over when President Uhuru Kenyatta exits.
Further details from the closed-door meeting indicated that Kalonzo and Mudavadi were also made to explain their stand regarding their recent dalliance with ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto.
Mudavadi's recent meeting with Deputy President William Ruto raised eyebrows with even sources from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) indicating that the two are in talks for a coalition.
This was further evident when Ruto attended a football match hosted by Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala in Mumias, Kakamega county. The Second in command during the event stated that Mudavadi asked him to attend the football tournament on December 31.
"I know Malala has been wondering why I arrived unannounced. Just know that there's a league that Musalia plays that you are not there yet. The permission I got was from Musalia Mudavadi, so don't worry yourself," Ruto stated.
On the other hand, Kalonzo has been seen as courting Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga for partnership ahead of the polls.
Kalonzo has however ruled out working with Odinga after previous engagements in NASA coalition that led to a noisy, messy divorce and with casualties.
The meeting was aimed at making the two declare their stand determining OKA's fate.
Already, OKA has suffered some major blows with some key figures ditching the coalition to join Azimio la Umoja affiliated to Raila. Among those who shifted their alliance include Lugari MP Ayub Savula and Godfrey Osotsi.
