A Citizen TV journalist has come out claiming that his life is in danger after covering a story implicating a bodyguard attached to a powerful governor in a murder case.

In a report filed at Kericho Police Station on Thursday, January 6, under OB number 32/6/01/2022, the journalist, Martin Kosgey, stated that he had received life-threatening messages.

In the statement, the journalist noted that he received intelligence stating that there is a plot being orchestrated to harm him over that story.

Kosgey expressed his fear that since he covered the news item, the assailant has not been apprehended yet he is armed and dangerous.

Trouble started when the reporter posted on his social media page on January 4, 2022, revealing the case in which a bodyguard attached to a powerful politician had fatally attacked his kin over a beehive.

He went on to file the story which was aired on Citizen TV as the deceased's family went public demanding for justice of their murdered kin.

The report prompted Kericho police officers to open an investigation to establish what transpired during the incident.

Kericho County Police Commander, Silas Gichunge, who confirmed the incident stated that the bodyguard was last traced in Bomet County before he switched off his phone.

The deceased kin is said to have been picked up by the bodyguard who reportedly attacked him using a harmer. He reportedly received help to carry out that heinous act from another warden, who is also being sought by the police.

The uncle to the deceased noted that he watched as his nephew die in the hands of the assailants.

"As I walked into the compound, I heard wailing. I decided to look into the matter only to find him being attacked. He was finished," his uncle recounted.

The family of the deceased is demanding that the perpetrators be brought to book.

"I call upon the government to take action on the people who killed my grandson," the deceased's grandmother pleaded.

"These were just children. If they committed any offense, arrest them and charge them. Don't kill them."
