Mobile surveying platform, Geopoll, has revealed the most popular radio and TV stations in Kenya in its latest survey.
According to the report, which is based on a survey that was carried out between January 1 and November 30, 2021, Radio Citizen, which is owned by Royal Media Services (RMS), was the most listened to station in Kenya.
Radio Maisha and Radio Jambo, which broadcast in Swahili, came in second and third place while the most popular English radio station was Classic 105 followed by Kiss FM and NRG Radio.
Further, the report revealed that the most popular breakfast show in Kenya was Radio Citizen’s Jambo Kenya with 11.7 per cent of the average radio share.
Radio Jambo and Radio Maisha's breakfast shows tied at number two with 8.8 per cent each.
Classic 105’s Maina and King’angi dominated the English segment during weekday mornings, followed Kiss FM’s Morning Kiss hosted by by Kamene Goro and Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang'o.
The most popular drive show was Radio Citizen's Drive On followed by Radio Maisha (8.9%) and Radio Jambo (8.2%). Milele FM was fourth with to 6.7 per cent.
Among English radio stations, Kiss FM's Kiss Drive was the most popular drive show with 6.25 per cent followed by Classic FM's Evening Drive which had 5.91 per cent.
The report also ranked the top 10 TV stations in Kenya during peak hours between 7 PM to 9:30 pm.
"Citizen TV had the highest number of average viewers, garnering 30 per cent of the total audience share of the other channels in the top 10," the survey reads.
Nation Media Group-owned NTV was the second most popular TV channel by audience, followed by KTN. KTN’s sister channel, KTN News and Maisha Magic East rounded up the five most watched TV channels.
