Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja on Sunday, January 9, declared that he was open to working with any leader that One Kenya Alliance Principal Musalia Mudavadi forges ties with - including Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking in Nairobi, Sakaja responded to questions on whether he would work with Ruto, in the event that Mudavadi formed a political alliance with him.

The young senator declared that he would follow the Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader, whom he has been warming up to, into the DP's camp if he settled on working with the latter.

"I trust the leadership of Musalia Mudavadi, and if he has seen it fit to team up with whichever leader, I will go with him," the senator affirmed.

Sakaja explained confidence in the former Vice President in making the right decision as the country draws closer to the August 9 polls. He vowed to stand with the ANC leader regardless of his political choices.

"I am not a fair-weather friend, that I am supporting him only if he stands alone. Of course, that will be my ideal situation, but I will trust his judgement and choice," the Nairobi senator declared.

He further hit out at leaders who have warned Mudavadi against working with the country's second in command, noting that there was no enmity in politics

"As we move, people should be ready to see a lot of big changes. There are no bridges that are burnt, there are no doors that are closed," the outspoken senator stated.

Sakaja is among several aspirants who have shown interest in the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.

In earlier press statements, the senator had mentioned that he would run for the seat under whatever political party he deemed fit.

However, he noted that the people of Nairobi would not vote for a political party but a person who had their interests at heart.
