Churchill Show Comedian Jasper Muthomi, popularly known as MC Jessy, has decamped to United Democratic Alliance (UDA) headed by Deputy President William Ruto.

Photos shared by the party on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 19, showed Ruto receiving the comedian to the Hustler Movement while all smiles.

Jessy, who has expressed interest to occupy the South Imenti Parliamentary seat, made the decision to back DP Ruto after consultations with his supporters. 

“It’s now clear where the vision is heading. After many days of consultative meetings with my South Imenti people, I have officially been invited to join UDA.

"The groundwork that has been done has finally landed on the side of the winning team," stated Jessy.

The comedian joined the 2022 Parliamentary race in November after he received an endorsement from the constituency's elders.

"This weekend, I was grateful and humbled by the elders that raised me and who are from my home constituency of South Imenti when they honoured and bestowed on me the blessings and responsibilities to lead South Imenti Constituency as the Member Of Parliament," he announced at the time.

Jessy joins several well-known figures such as former Law Society of Kenya President Nelson Havi who also joined the DP's camp and is vying for the Westlands Parliamentary seat.

Havi made the switch from Amani National Congress (ANC) party which he had joined in May 2021. 

The lawyer had joined the party a week after announcing that he was interested in taking over duties from current Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi who will vie for the Nairobi Gubernatorial seat.

Other entertainers who have thrown their hats into the political ring include Felix Odiwuor, popularly Jalang'o, who is vying for the Lang'ata seat, Roy Smith Mwatia, popularly Rufftone (Nairobi Senator) and Jackson Makini, aka Prezzo, who is vying for Kibra Parliamentary seat.
