Ex-LinkedIn Africa Manager Found Dead in Nairobi Hotel

Former Head of Research and Development at LinkedIn Africa, Thogori Karago was found dead in a hotel in Nairobi, Kenya.

Police who picked the body from the hotel located along Waiyaki Way noted that there she did not have any visible injuries. 

Kilimani police boss Muturi Mbogo confirmed that they found her body lying in a room on the third floor. 

The detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding her demise and are looking for leads into the case before issuing a preliminary report.

“There are indications she was diabetic, but that is subject for further investigations. For now, we take it to be a natural and sudden death,” Muturi Mbogo stated. 

A memorial was opened online to celebrate Karago who was described as a charming and cheerful lady. 

Friends, colleagues and acquaintances flocked to the platform to share their best memories of her. 

"Thank you for the friendship that we shared. I’m glad we got to have lunch together and connect about our grand plans. We shall meet again. Rest well and continue to shine on us from above. I will miss you," a message from a Chris Otundo read.

"You've been an inspiration to me. You will leave on in the example you've left behind," Sheila Nyakiamo shared.

"My darling Thogori, you were such a beautiful spirit and such a joyous person. You left an impact on everyone you met and such a leader truly needed in Africa. I still can't believe you are gone. May you rest in eternal peace angel," Jeansarah Wanjiru wrote.

Thogori was the former Head of Research and Development at LinkedIn, Africa where she was responsible for overseeing LinkedIn’s growth on the African continent.

According to her LinkedIn profile, she led the monetization team on subscriptions products at the firm and connected job seekers with the knowledge and skills they need while hunting for opportunities. 

Karago left LinkedIn and she joined LGBT human rights activism. 

"She loves building technology products that positively impact people's lives across the Pan-African diaspora and particularly the most marginalized in our community. Having grown up in Nairobi, Kenya, she is particularly passionate about doing so in developing countries," her profile read.
