Bungoma Senator, Moses Wetangula, has revealed why he opted to get into a political alliance with Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking in Malava, Kakamega County on Friday, January 28, the Ford-Kenya leader explained that he formerly supported former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who claimed stabbed them in the back.

Wetangula alleged that his Amani National Congress (ANC) counterpart, Musalia Mudavadi, was also betrayed by Raila.

Wetangula added that Raila, who currently is the African Union High Representative for Infrastructure and Development, pushed them into joining Ruto's camp by mistreating, misusing and neglecting them.

"As a community (Luhya), we have been played, laughed at and wronged by many people. The people that we have helped are the ones who are now using us. It's time for Mulembe people to reclaim their respect. It's time for us not to work for our neighbours but ourselves. We want to be treated with respect.

"Since the handshake, which Luhya has he (Raila) picked and given a Cabinet post? Which Luhya has he picked as an ambassador? Which road project has he launched here? Has he built a port here like in Kisumu?" the Bungoma Senator posed.

Wetangula added that he and Mudavadi had made a decision to work with the DP and will not look back, adding that the union with Ruto which was unveiled on January 23 at the Bomas of Kenya was just but a beginning.

He also blasted Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary-General, Francis Atwoli for misusing leaders instead of offering advice.

"When Musalia promised an earthquake, others thought that it would bring down big houses. No! It was meant to break weak hearts in politics.

"Atwoli is ageing. In our community, someone of his age should guide people and not take the government's money to buy people," he added.

Ruto, Mudavadi, Wetangula embarked on joint campaigns and have so far toured Nakuru, Baringo and Malaba in Kakamega County.
