Jubilee Party Secretary General, Raphael Tuju, made damning allegations against Deputy President William Ruto during an interview on Inooro FM.

On Friday, February 4, Tuju claimed that DP Ruto conspired to undermine President Uhuru Kenyatta's government after the 2017 elections.

According to the Jubilee Secretary General, the country's second in command wanted to make Uhuru's second term in office rocky.

Tuju claimed that Ruto plotted and approached the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader, Raila Odinga, before the March 2018 handshake to join forces and overpower Uhuru's influence and defeat his agenda in Parliament.

"He was the first person to approach Raila so that they blackmail the President," Tuju stated during the Inooro FM interview.

The Jubilee party boss, however, noted that Ruto's plans did not materialize after the President was informed of the plot and moved in to thwart the move through the handshake with Raila.

Notably, similar sentiments were previously shared by Jubilee Party Vice Chair, David Murathe, who accused the DP of using proxies to challenge President Uhuru.

Murathe claimed that the President decided to work with Raila after he realised that the Deputy President was out to sabotage his administration.

"Let you not be lied to, Ruto only brought us 1.4 million votes against Uhuru's over 6 million votes. And when the government was formed, we gave him half of the Cabinet which he only used to milk from the government," Murathe stated.

"Ruto's main aim was to make Uhuru's government fail. When he was with the government, we only managed to build five markets countrywide but when Baba (Raila) came in, we have managed to build 58 markets," added Murathe.

In May 2020, the Jubilee Vice Chair claimed that Ruto had planned to whip parliamentarians to skip the Jubilee coalition's Senate Parliamentary Group Meeting held at State House.

“Ruto was at his Karen home calling Senators and telling them to skip a PG meeting called by the party leader, this is insubordination of the highest degree.”
