Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni Wamuchomba has extended an olive branch to her Murang'a counterpart Sabina Chege to join Deputy President William Ruto's camp after she received sharp criticism over her utterances in Vihiga County last week.

Wamuchomba faulted Sabina for abandoning the mountain and instead opting to follow the Azimio la Umoja movement.

She implored Sabina to return to the mountain and join the likes of Anne Waiguru (Kirinyaga Governor), Cate Waruguru (Laikipia women representative), and her Nyeri counterpart, Rahab Mukami, who are championing for the hustler movement.

"Dear my sister Hon Sabina Chege. On Tuesday, I watched you trying to wear a brave face at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) offices shielded by Senator James Orengo, Senior Counsel Otiende Amollo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and others.

"I wondered where the likes of Anne Waiguru, Cate Waruguru, Rahab Mukami, were to protect you as a daughter of the mountain. Of course, you ran away to Nyanza and never want to say hi to your sisters," she stated.

Taking a different approach from her United Democratic Alliance (UDA) counterparts, who had castigated Sabina for her remarks over Jubilee Party's win in 2017, Wamuchomba instead pleaded with Sabina to join their camp and reunite with her sisters.

"What you said about the 2017 elections was absurd; yes you are known to be a controlled girl, very intelligent. Sabina come back to the mountain.  That handshake spirit is demolishing warriors of the mountain, we must defeat it!"

"They said you have a case to answer, that will need prayers," Wamuchomba pointed out.

The Kenya Kwanza brigade had directed their attacks at the Murang'a County MP - urging the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to take action over the utterances.

“Like there is one woman who said that votes were stolen and they will be stolen again. Such words can bring a big problem in the country. We have heard him being summoned by NCIC to substantiate what she really meant,” FORD-Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula stated.

The concerns forced IEBC to summon Sabina in order to establish the validity of the claims. After deliberations, Commission chair Wafula Chebukati announced that they would be escalating the case into a full hearing.
