Sharp divisions have emerged within the Wiper Party after a section of its members opposed a likely pre-election pact between Kalonzo Musyoka and Raila Odinga.

The team led by Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior accused key players in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party of maligning Kalonzo's name in a bid to woo the voters in the Eastern region.

He shunned the motives by the politicians noting that the ODM party leader ought to seek votes from the region himself instead of riding on Kalonzo's name, and coercing him to join his Azimio la Umoja bandwagon.

"You are not going to take us to Azimio by force. Tell Raila Amolo Odinga that he should not send someone but instead come and speak to the people of the Eastern region if he wants their votes," he stated.

"When he does come, tell him that we are supporting Kalonzo Musyoka," he added.

The senator also faulted ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna for working against the Wiper party for receiving funding in the defunct National Super Alliance (NASA).

"Sifuna, you ordered that we should not be given our due cash, stating that Kalonzo should join Azimio. Further, you guys claimed that Kalonzo sought Ksh3 billion in order to join the movement. Tell us where did he say such a statement?" he posed.

In his defense, Sifuna affirmed that the cash had already been released to the Wiper party- contrary to the Makueni Senator's remarks.

"I want you to call me at your office and I produce documents to show the funds released from ODM going to Wiper," Sifuna stated

Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu also hit out at Kilonzo Junior- faulting him for derailing the Wiper party from joining the Azimio movement for his own selfish gains.

This comes as Raila and Kalonzo met behind closed doors on Sunday, February 20, at a hotel in Mombasa County amid a conversation of possible coalition talks.

"We met with Odinga. We had earlier planned to hold our rally at the Tononoka grounds but they had booked the venue earlier," Kalonzo stated.

Initially, the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) regime revealed that they had opened discussions with like-minded parties in order to chart the way forward before the 2022 General Election.
