The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader, Raila Odinga and Wiper Party Leader, Kalonzo Musyoka on Sunday, February 20, met behind closed doors at a hotel in Mombasa County amid a conversation of possible coalition talks.

Odinga and the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) Principal met over breakfast and had discussions about their rallies in the Coast region where both factions have pitched camp.

This is after it emerged that both Azimio la Umoja and OKA had made plans to hold a political rally at the Tononoka Grounds in Mombasa, which could have caused confusion.

"We met with Odinga this morning. We had earlier planned to hold our rally at the Tononoka grounds but they had booked the venue earlier," Kalonzo stated.

Kanu party leader Gideon Moi was also present in the meeting. OKA agreed to hold their meeting at the Kadongo grounds in Kisauni, with Kalonzo stating that he wished the ODM leader a successful campaign tour.

The meeting between Raila and Kalonzo dispelled suspicion of any bad blood between the leaders. On February 17, the ex-Vice President denied having talks with the former Premier, stating that they had not been initiated.

"Everybody knows the story of me and Raila that runs for 10 political years. We win sometimes and other times we fail. We are talking to them but I can tell you that even those talks have not fully begun," he stated

However, Kalonzo confirmed that he was in talks with the Jubilee party leader, President Uhuru Kenyatta, on forming a possible coalition since the two parties had mutual ideologies.

The Wiper party leader has been on the receiving end of jabs thrown against him for not joining the Azimio bandwagon. The latest onslaught came from Machakos Governor, Alfred Mutua, who alleged that the Wiper boss had asked for Ksh3 billion for him to support the handshake partner.

Machakos Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior further castigated the move by Mutua and Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu to resort to insulting his party leader for not joining forces with the Azimio Patriarch.

"Everybody knows the story of me and Raila that runs for 10 political years. We win sometimes and other times we fail. We are talking to them but I can tell you that even those talks have not fully begun," he noted.
