Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is edging closer to signing a pact with the Azimio la Umoja team led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Speaking at a presser, on Friday, February 25, Musyoka revealed that OKA affiliated parties had initiated open and structured dialogue with like-minded political formations namely the Jubilee Coalition and the ODM Party.

Musyoka further revealed that OKA was open to the formation of a grand coalition to be known as Azimio-One Kenya Alliance.

Raila and Lower Eastern politicians had urged Kalonzo to snub the Kenya Kwanza Alliance comprising of Deputy President (UDA), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Moses Wetangula (Ford-Kenya).

Musyoka stated that the political parties allied to OKA (Wiper, Narc Kenya, UDP and Kanu) had a thorough consultation amongst themselves and they decided that they will be seeking to move the country forward with Jubilee Coalition and ODM Party.

He added that OKA was keen on forming a grand coalition with the Uhuru and Raila's teams under strict three pillars.

"The alliance shall be anchored on three equal pillars. As OKA we firmly believe in an open, honest and structured dialogue whose basis is a promotion of national unity, upholding and respecting the dignity of all Kenyans, ending the culture of graft and impunity and restoring the decency of living within our borders," Musyoka stated.

"As announced in our earlier communication, OKA principals will on Monday, February 28, 2022, officially sign the coalition agreement as an affirmation of our commitment to seeing a just, inclusive and prosperous nation. Thereafter, we shall deposit the coalition agreement with the registrar of political parties," he added.

Musyoka further revealed that OKA will also be unveiling its presidential flagbearer.

Earlier in the week, Musyoka came clean over a meeting he held with Raila Odinga at a hotel in Mombasa County on Sunday, February 20.

Kalonzo refuted reports that the meeting was planned in advance, stating that he met with Raila by chance. His address followed the emergence of images on social media showing the two leaders in a deep conversation, with reports indicating that the agenda of the meeting centred around a coalition agreement between Azimio la Umoja and the former Vice President.

“I went for breakfast at a hotel where Gideon Moi was and met Raila by chance. I only greeted him and had my breakfast at a separate table,” he stated.

Additionally, he blasted proponents of Azimio la Umoja for being pushy in their pursuit to have him back Raila. He stated that he would only make the decision to enter into a coalition agreement with the ODM boss at a time he would feel comfortable and after consultations.

Kalonzo also refuted reports of holding discussions with Deputy President William Ruto.
