Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has opened up about a conversation he held with Kenya's former Prime Minister Raila Odinga that moved him.

Modi on Sunday, February 27, revealed that he held an emotional conversation with the former Prime Minister during Odinga's February visit to the Asian nation.

The conversation between the two gravitated around how Raila's daughter Rosemary Odinga regained her eyesight and his (Raila's) deep desire to bring the traditional plants. He further noted that Raila was of the view that if the plant and entire Ayurveda technology was availed in Kenya, it would benefit many people.

"Odinga emotionally told me that science of Ayurveda should be brought to Kenya. The kinds of plants used in Ayurveda would be grown and he will ensure that its benefits reach a maximum number of people.

"It is a matter of great joy for me that due to our land and tradition, a huge suffering from somebody's life has been eradicated," he stated.

Modi further narrated how Raila and Rosemary had suffered from the disease before a friend recommended them to Sreedhareeyam Group of Institutions, where she ultimately received the much-needed help.

Ayurvedic medicine was founded over 3,000 years ago as per the National Center for Complementary Health Ayurveda (NCCH) in India.

It starts with the internal purification process and is accompanied by a special diet as well as herbal medicine among other supplements - such as massage.

During his meeting with Modi, Raila vowed to set up a hospital such as the revolutionary Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Eye Hospital & Research Centre.

During his meeting, he also narrated that his daughter's predicament started after a surgery she had undergone in Nairobi interfered with her optical nerve.

"My daughter got sick about three years ago. She had some haemorrhage in the brain and as a result, she was operated on in Nairobi. In the process of the operation, they interfered with her optic nerve.

"We then transferred her to South Africa for treatment. She was treated there for three months. Unfortunately, she was not able to recover her eyesight. We sent her to Israel and again they did not do much," stated the former Prime Minister.

He also sought treatment in Japan and China but nothing was forthcoming until a friend referred them to India.
