National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has released a list of the most dangerous roads in Nairobi County.
The report by NTSA listed roads that had the highest number of road carnages in 2021.
According to the NTSA, Outering Road was the most dangerous roadway in Nairobi with the recorded number of fatal accidents standing at 44.
Waiyaki Way followed with 38 fatalities in 2021 while Mombasa Road and Northern Bypass were joint third with 29 accident cases each during that duration.
The NTSA report indicated that Southern Bypass had 28 fatalities and this made it the fourth most dangerous road in Nairobi County while the Eastern Bypass recorded 27 road crashes to wrap up the top five.
Thika Superhighway came in sixth with NTSA that it had 25 fatalities and Kangundo Road was listed seventh with 23 fatalities.
It was followed by Kangundo Road which recorded 23 fatalities and Ngong Road ranked ninth with 22 deaths recorded in 2021.
Other busy roads such as Thika Road recorded 16, Jogoo Road (14), Juja Road (14), Lunga Lunga Road (13) and Airport North Road (13).
Kiambu Road had six fatal accidents.
Limuru Road recorded 5, Naivasha Road (5), while Enterprise, Haile Selassie, Landhies, Lusaka and Wangari Mathai roads each recorded four deaths.
In January 2022, the NTSA reported that 60 people were fatally injured in road accidents since the beginning of the year.
Pedestrians and bodaboda operators were the biggest casualties.
