The Jubilee Party has kicked out Kiambu Senator, Kimani Wamatangi, from his Majority Whip after he joined Deputy President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
In a letter addressed to him by the party Secretary-General, Jeremiah Kioni, the Senator was deemed to have resigned from his position.
The party further ordered him to cease, with immediate effect, holding the office of the Majority Chief Whip in the Senate.
The Secretary-General referenced the UDA rally held in Thika this past weekend whereby the Kiambu Senator declared his allegiance to the DP outfit.
"This is to bring to your notice that the National Management Committee ( NMC ) met on Monday, March 14 to deliberate on the following among other things; your public attendance on Sunday, March 13, of a Kenya Kwanza rally in Thika whereof you were received by the Party Leader of United Democratic Alliance.
"Your public declaration at the said Kenya Kwanza rally in Thika, that you have joined the United Democratic Alliance and that you intend to contest for the Kiambu County Governor seat on the ticket of United Democratic Alliance."
SG Kioni noted that the National Management Committee (NMC) also directed Wamatangi to cease holding any leadership position in any committee of the Senate that he holds by virtue of being a member of the Jubilee party.
The Senator was ordered to make representations to the ruling government to reflect the directives given before the close of business on Thursday, March 17- failure to which further actions would be taken.
"You are requested to make written representations to the Party through the undersigned by close of business on Thursday, March 17, in the event that you do not agree with the above-cited resolutions of the NMC," Kioni noted.
During an interview on Citizen TV, Wamatangi had stated that he was ready for any disciplinary action taken against him.
"If it happens, then it is welcomed but mark my words I have never been beholden to any position, you know if you made me Presdident in 2027 then I would serve all Kenyans. So, if they say it's time to go then it is time to go," he stated.
The move comes as President Uhuru Kenyatta has called all leaders from the Mt Kenya region for a meeting at State House, Nairobi on Friday, March 18, with details hinted at the President solidifying his base in the vote-rich region.
