Gatundu South member of Parliament  Moses Kuria now claims that former Citizen TV presenter and media personality Janet Mbugua has pulled out of the race to become his Deputy Governor.

In a public statement made by Kuria on Thursday, March 23,  the MP claimed that the veteran journalist was among the applicants for the advertised job, and emerged the best.

However, the lawmaker stated that Mbugua, despite scoring the highest marks, withdrew from the contest for what he claimed were unprecedented personal reasons.

"I am shattered. After scoring the highest marks in the talent search for Kiambu Deputy Governor, Janet Mbugua will not be taking up the job due to unforeseen personal emergencies that she has to attend to in the immediate term," he wrote.

The Chama Cha Kazi party leader expressed disappointment, stating that the last-minute move by Mbugua would see him miss out on an opportunity to work with an outstanding professional.

Nonetheless, he vowed that his administration will still be engaging the founder of the Inua Dada Foundation to benefit from her vast experience in future.

"My administration will definitely find a way to benefit from her experience and capacity in the future. I feel the loss. Janet is a huge inspiration for the youth, for professionals, for women and for young mothers of this country " he remarked.

In a full-page advertisement published on local dailies, Kuria, who is eyeing the Kiambu County gubernatorial seat in the August 9, 2022 polls invited applications for his deputy.

He noted that he was looking for a female running mate exclusively from Kiambu County. He added that the lady must be a professional with an unmatched career and academic record.

Furthermore, interested applicants must be holders of a Masters' degree from a recognized institution of higher learning and a proven track record in a leading complex organization.

"Kuria is looking for an aggressive, self-driven, self-motivated lady professional to take up the role of the deputy governor. Interested applicants must have a proven track record in a leading complex organization with at least 10 years experience, five at a senior executive level," the advert read in part.

Kenyans.co.ke contacted Janet Mbugua for a comment on the same but she had not yet responded at the time of publication.
