Deputy President William Ruto has been roped into a hoax video involving UK Home Secretary Priti Patel and pranksters posing as Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

In a 15 minute video released online by the pranksters on March 15, Patel is reportedly heard revealing details of Ruto's trip to the UK.

The video shows her seated in front of Union and Ukraine flags in what appeared to be her office while speaking to the Ukrainian pranksters.  Patel stated that Ruto assured them of Kenya's support against Russia.

"Interestingly enough there are other members of Interpol who very strongly and they are not all European Union countries. Kenya is a big ally and a big supporter and a big voice and in fact, Deputy President Ruto was in London last week and this exactly the point that was being made to him and they are very supportive," the Home Secretary can be heard saying in the video call.

"I will be very candid with you, we intend to pursue this, particularly with our five colleagues, America in particular and this also a test for America to make sure that we can have tougher measures against Russia," she added.

The authenticity of the video was questioned by some experts who claimed that some parts were doctored to promote a deep fake agenda. Media publications in the UK also reported that Patel fell for a prank.

Neither her office nor that of Ruto has issued a statement regarding the prank video.

The trend, however, appears to be picking in the UK with Ukrainian pranksters stealing the identity of their Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

A few days ago, they also released another video purporting to speak to UK Secretary of Defense Ben Wallace.

In the video, Wallace appears to discuss how the UK supported Ukraine's ambitions to become a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) member in the past.

However, the UK Ministry of Defense dispelled the information in the video accusing Russia of spreading propaganda.

They further wrote a letter to YouTube asking them to pull down the videos uploaded by the pranksters.

Moreover, more experts have called on the social media site to strike all other clips including the one roping Ruto and Patel.
