Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici has responded to Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria's call to pull out from the highly contested Kirinyaga Gubernatorial race
She affirmed that she was still in the race to oust incumbent governor Anne Waiguru, who was touted as Deputy President William Ruto's probable running mate.
Kuria had cautioned Ngirici that she was treading along a dangerous path and that her career was in line. The lawmaker alleged that Mt Kenya had shifted and aligned with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) brand.
"To my very good friend, Wangui Ngirici. Listen to your people. They decided a long time ago. Do not be misled to commit and irreversible political transgression," Kuria wrote on his social media pages.
Ngirici, however, made a witty remark in response to Kuria's sentiments, noting that his political spectrum was off ahead of the upcoming polls.
"Thank you Moses Kuria for the advice, however from your observation, it seems like Kiambu shall have five (5) Governors duly elected on August 9.
"It's very clear that former Governor William Kabogo, incumbent James Nyoro, you, and I are playing chess while your other three competitors are playing football - two of them shall have to be taken for first aid pretty soon," she stated.
She was seemingly cautioning Kuria that he was set to face stiff competition in Kiambu rather than the one he anticipated in Kirinyaga.
Ngirici is set to face off against incumbent Governor Anne Mumbi Waiguru (UDA), first Kirinyaga Governor Joseph Ndathi (TSP), incumbent senator Charles Kibiru and NARC-Kenya party leader Martha Karua in the gubernatorial race.
Ngirici has in the past affirmed that she would vie on an independent ticket, noting that the leaders would be elected based on their track record and manifesto.
“I sacrificed a lot for the UDA party but I was later shortchanged, We ought to leave behind the politics of electing leaders based on their political parties, let us think about individuals who will represent our interests,” she stated during a recent tour in Mwea constituency.
