Gatundu South Member of Parliament, Moses Kuria, has listed 15 counties that he perceived as holding the key to State House, arguing that both Kenya Kwanza and Azimio La Umoja coalitions must win if they are to register a resounding victory in the August 9 polls.
The Legislator claimed that the Kenya Kwanza coalition was the most popular in 23 counties while Azimio La Umoja's perceived strongholds being nine counties.
According to Kuria, the fifteen counties that will determine the outcome of the Presidential election include Kakamega, Samburu, Isiolo, Marsabit, Garissa, Mandera, Wajir, Kitui, and Machakos.
Others include Makueni, Nairobi, Lamu, Kwale, Tana River and Taita Taveta.
The Legislator pointed out that Deputy President William Ruto commanded a lead in 23 counties including Nakuru, Laikipia, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi, Kirinyaga, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Muranga, Kiambu, Baringo, Bomet, Kericho, Elgeyo Marakwet.
Other counties on the list include Nandi, Uasin Gishu, Trans Nzoia, West Pokot, Turkana, Vihiga, Bungoma, Kajiado and Narok.
On the other hand, Azimio La Umoja Presidential candidate, Raila Odinga's perceived strongholds are Kisumu, Siaya, Migori, Homa Bay, Kisii, Nyamira, Busia, Mombasa and Kilifi.
With 130 days to the elections, battlelines have been drawn with presidential hopefuls going all out to convince the electorate to vote for them.
In the latest TIFA polls, Deputy President led in the vote-rich Mt Kenya region. However, the poll indicated that the tide could turn depending on different factors such as the choice of running mate.
The politicians who are touted to be on the frontline to become Ruto's running mate include Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, Kandara's Alice Wahome, Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki and ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi.
On the other hand, Raila's perceived picks include Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua, former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth and Agriculture CS Peter Munya.
