The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader, Raila Odinga, has put Suna East Member of Parliament, Junet Mohammed, on the spot over his remarks appearing on the Daily Nation on an alleged impeachment of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Responding to a media question on his alleged involvement in the impeachment plans, Raila stated that he was not the suitable person to answer since he had not made the remarks, directing the reporters to pose the question to Junet.

The ODM party leader, who was accompanied by Junet and other politicians, completely declined to respond to the issue. Junet - who is the National Assembly Majority Whip - did also not respond to the queries and asked the reporter to see him later.

Junet had been quoted by The Nation stating that he was part of a team that was discussing the impeachment proposals with Deputy President William Ruto.

The MP stated that Raila Odinga was offered the position of Deputy President in the talks, with Ruto taking up leadership of the country in a post-Uhuru era in 2018.

"Honorable Junet Mohammed is here and you can ask him that," Raila stated.

Junet defended himself when the cameras turned to him noting that today was not the appropriate day to discuss such matters.

"Today is Homabay day, we will meet later," the MP stated as his colleagues laughed at him for being put on the spot by their party leader.

Raila was speaking after meeting with Homabay gubernatorial hopefuls where the delegates endorsed Woman Rep Gladys Wanga for the county's top job.

Wanga will face off with former Nairobi governor and businessman Evans Kidero.

Earlier in the week, ODM National Chairman, John Mbadi, shelved his aspirations to become the county boss, stating that he would back Wanga.

He went ahead to note that he had held consultations with his party leader and that he was assured of a position in the national government should Raila clinch the presidency.

Raila was meeting with the gubernatorial hopefuls from Homabay in what is seen as a move to stem fallout that may follow the outcomes of the nomination process.

"They have all agreed to step down and endorse Gladys Wanga in the county gubernatorial race. They have also nominated the Honorable Oyugi Magwanga as her running mate," Odinga stated.

"The party has taken note and it has agreed and we have issued a certificate to Honorable Gladys Wanga," he added.
