The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has shared fresh details surrounding the mysterious death of Ebby Samuel Noel who was a form student at Gatanga CMM Secondary School.

According to a report from DCI, the student was allegedly assaulted severely by a senior member of the school’s administration on over her hair style that was contrary to school regulations.

The incident reportedly happened during preps time. The student retired to bed and that was the last time she was seen alive by her friends in school.

An autopsy was conducted on her body with the government pathologist establishing that she died as a result of blunt force trauma, due to head injury.

The report contradicted the school administration's statement after it was reported that the student had fallen from her bed that night.

The incident happened on the night of  March 8-9 2019. To get to the bottom of the matter, DCI sought to record witness statements but the school did not cooperate with the detectives.

" A team of seasoned homicide detectives was dispatched for the assignment. However, they found the school environment intimidating for the witnesses and opted to take their statements once the schools were closed, during the ongoing holiday. So far, we have recorded several statements all of which contradict the account given by the school administration.

The team has established that on the fateful night, Ebby had been assaulted severely by a senior member of the school’s administration on allegations that her hair had been styled contrary to school regulations," DCI stated.

Following cases of intimidation, DCI further opened probe into a conspiracy to defeat justice by the school administration.

Assuring Ebby's parents of justice almost three years later, DCI noted that they had visited several students in their homes and have recorded their statements which will inform the prosecution.

"This informed the decision by detectives to visit the children in their homes where they have opened up on what really transpired. Investigations are on advanced stages and it is only a matter of time before the perpetrators of Ebby’s killing are brought to book and held accountable for their actions," DCI remarked.

The detectives have further appealed to other students with information regarding the incident to record statements, assuring them that their identities would be concealed.

The cry for justice caught the attention of many after Ebby's mother was featured by YouTuber Lynn Ngugi sending a message to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
