Former Kiambu governor and gubernatorial aspirant William Kabogo is on the spot after he reprimanded a section of rowdy youth at a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) rally held in Kiambaa, on Sunday, April 10.
In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the politician drew mixed reactions from the crowd after being introduced by Deputy President William Ruto.
While delivering his speech, Kabogo advocated for the disbursement of funds to the grassroots in order to improve the living standards of people within the country. He urged DP Ruto to prioritise the plight of Kiambu county residents should he win the upcoming General Election.
However, midway into his speech, a section of rowdy youth, who were causing fracas at the rally, disrupted his address.
Angered by the chaos, Kabogo lashed out at the crowd, ordering the rowdy youth to refrain from their actions. The former governor alleged that the commotion was politically instigated, claiming that some politicians paid the youth to disrupt the rally.
"There's one thing that I want to say, those who were sent here to distract and cause chaos, you are not Kenyan. We are peaceful people. Those who are paying youths to drink and cause chaos, go and hang yourself. Stop that nonsense, Kenya belongs to all of us."
"Those disrupting the rally are fools," he castigated the rowdy youth.
The politician also noted that he would be the one to front the interests of the Mount Kenya region in the next regime.
"Let us respect President Uhuru Kenyatta for he was elected, however, his time is almost up for him to go home. I've heard some say that once Uhuru leaves the top office, we will lack an effective leader to front Mt Kenya region interests, I'm I not a suitable candidate to front the agenda of Kiambu county residents?" he posed.
Alluding to their relationship with DP Ruto, Kabogo stated that the UDA Presidential candidate was the most suitable candidate to succeed President Kenyatta.
"I've scoured the country recently and I can confidently declare that Ruto is fit to succeed Uhuru Kenyatta in the next General Election,"
"I am not a prophet or witch but I have seen DP Ruto winning the elections," he noted.
