Aloise Kinyanjui, the brother to Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, has been given a direct ticket by the Jubilee Party to fly its flag in the Juja parliamentary race.

Kinyajui was given the ticket on Sunday, April 17, and is set to face off with his brother's former ally, George Koimburi, who won the UDA nominations in Juja.

Aloise initially expressed interest in running on his brother's Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) party but defected to Jubilee after his elder brother joined Deputy President William Ruto's Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

His main challenger, Koimburi, was introduced to elective politics by Moses Kuria, who sponsored him under the People's Empowerment Party (PEP) in the Juja by-election held last year.

Koimburi, however, parted ways with the Gatundu South MP after PEP was taken over - prompting the Juja MP to join UDA.

Aloise and Koimburi have previously clashed politically following the incumbent's development record over the management of a public toilet.

In January 2022, Kinyanjui had launched his campaigns for the Juja position low key but the Jubilee ticket now validates him as a contestant.

Aloise is a former detective who worked for the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) before retiring to join elective politics.

Meanwhile, another brother of the Kurias, Joel Ngigi Kuria, serves as the Chief Officer of Agriculture in Kiambu County and is supporting Kiambu Governor James Nyoro's election on a Jubilee ticket. Moses Kuria is seeking to unseat Nyoro on a Chama Cha Kazi ticket.

Ngigi is known to be a supporter of President Uhuru Kenyatta and threw his weight behind the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

During the Jubilee Party nominations, David Gakuyo was also picked to contest for the Thika Town Parliamentary position.

Gakuyo is set to battle for the position with former MP Alice Ng'ang'a who received a direct United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket.
