A woman eyeing the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket broke down while sharing an emotional message to her party leader Raila Odinga on live TV.

Fatuma Mohammed who wants to be the next Woman Representative for Migori county disclosed that she spent millions to bankroll her campaigns and prove to ODM that she is fit to fly the party's flag on the August 9.

In particular, she stated that she had sold her house worth Ksh25 million to make a third stab at the seat but alleged that a plot had been hatched to lock her out in the ongoing party primaries in Migori county.

"I have been very fair to the party, they do wrong to me I kneel down and say It's ok Baba (Raila). I'm spending millions, I sold my house worth Ksh25 million to prove that I want to be a woman rep of Migori county and I have proven, Fatuma stated uncontrollably.

Fatuma went public on the alleged ploy after storming the tallying center at Migori Teachers College. According to the politician, the ODM party had orchestrated a plot to rig her out in favour of nominated Member of Parliament Dennitah Ghati.

The aspiring lawmaker who has unsuccessfully contested the woman representative seat in the 2013 and 2017 polls, challenged ODM leadership led by the former Prime Minister to exercise impartiality in the entire process.

She claimed that Raila had asked Ghati not to contest instead requested her to rally her Kuria community behind the Azimio-OKA Coalition with a promise of a plum job should he win the presidency.

"2017 I won they took my victory and gave it to current woman rep Pamela Odhiambo. Today I won by landslide.

When Baba came to Kuria, he negotiated with the Kuria community and told them Ghati cannot win, she is not a strong candidate, she is not popular. I have tried to reach to ODM party officials and one of them told me that I cannot stop the process," Fatuma stated while threatening to vie on an independent ticket.

The party officials have however not responded to the allegations and went ahead to announce the winner in the Migori nomination exercise.
