Sankok's Son Shoots Self Dead

Nominated Member of Parliament David Ole Sankok on Monday, May 2, lost his son in a gunshot incident at his Ewaso Ngiro farm in Narok County.

Preliminary reports indicate that the boy, a high school student allegedly shot himself using the father's gun in one of the rooms in their home.

However, the circumstances leading to the boy's demise remain unclear, though preliminary reports indicate a fallout with his father over failure to report back to school.

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are already at the lawmaker's home to launch investigations into the death.

Narok DCI boss Mwenda Ethaiba, confirmed the incident, revealing that the form four student shot himself on the chin, dying on the spot.

Officers who arrived at the scene stated that they found the body of the deceased in a pool of blood with the firearm next to it.

At the time of the incident, Sankok it was reported that the MP was away from the house, running his diary. The distress call from family members alerted neighbours, who trooped to the MP's residence.

The body of the deceased was ferried to the Narok County Referral Hospital Mortuary, where a post mortem will be conducted to establish the cause of death.

Politicians have offered their messages of condolences to the MP. Among them is Winnie Odinga, the daughter of former Prime Minister who wished his family peace and healing.

"This devastating. May The Almighty grant this family peace and healing," Odinga condoled with the family.
