The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has flagged a viral notice alleging that its portal is open for 2022/2023 university, college and TVET applications.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, a representative of KUCCPS warned the public to disregard the information, noting that official communication would be posted on their official channels.

The representative further stated that the KUCCPS portal is yet to be opened.

According to the fake notice, candidates who had recently completed their national examinations and were yet to apply to join universities, colleges and TVET institutions had a chance to do so.

The notice also indicated that a candidate ought to input their KCSE index number, and year of examination and use their birth certificate number as their password.

The notice also alleged that students who scored a minimum of a C+ can apply for degree courses in both the public and private universities countrywide.

"It's now official that the KUCCPS portal is now open for 2022/2023 University, College, and TVET applications. Students who completed their secondary school studies and are yet to apply can now log into the KUCCPS site for application. Input your KCSE index number, KCSE year and use your birth certificate number as your password."

"Students who scored a minimum of a C+ can apply for degree courses in both the public and private universities country wide," read part of the fake notice.

KUCCPS is tasked with coordinating the placement of Government-sponsored students in universities and colleges.

The entity also implements career guidance initiatives and disseminates information about university programmes.
