Look UP TV CEO Lands New Role in Rwanda After Exit

Former Look UP TV Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Eugene Anangwe has been appointed as the country manager of Consumer News and Business Channel - Africa (CNBC Africa) in Rwanda days after exiting the media house.

In a statement on Wednesday, May 11, the former TV boss stated that he would start his new role at the station immediately adding that he will be covering business stories across the continent.

In particular, he stated that he will focus on young entrepreneurs in his new assignment.

"I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Country Manager, Rwanda at CNBC Africa! I am here to support in the strengthening of a platform where the untold stories of young entrepreneurs and innovators from across Africa come alive.

To amplify the voices that speak opportunities for the African youth while simplifying financial reporting on the world's premier business channel; CNBC Africa," read the statement in part.

Anangwe resigned from Look UP TV on April 19 after joining the media house in August 2020.

At the station, he was tasked with spearheading the operations of the outlet and two radio stations namely Look UP Radio and Muthingi FM.

In his farewell message to his colleagues, the journalist expressed optimism over the growth of the station stating that he gave his best.

'Within a period of 1year and 4months, I’ve had the opportunity to lead a team to start a new journey of building the foundation upon which Look UP TV's great success is anchored. 

"A new assignment beacon and I bow out proud of the team I leave behind. Your only direction is to go - up!" he stated.

Previously,  Anangwe worked at TV47 where he held the position of CEO for over a year after the station was founded by business tycoon and Mount Kenya University (MKU) founder, Prof Simon Gicharu.

Additionally, he worked as a senior anchor and producer of the Standard Media Group from 2015 to 2018.
